Years

from an e-mail from Rob)
I spent
£25 I haven't got
on a curry tonight
for me and Becky. Why?
We spent an hour,
maybe an hour and a half
face to face over food,
and conversation,
just me and her.
Last time we did that?
Three years ago.
She was seven. We had tea together,
me & her in a cafe in Canterbury.
We talked about it tonight
and could still remember
seeing a girl walking down the street
with a snake round her neck,
seeing monks walk past,
and dropping a tomato off our table
and it rolling across the cafe floor...
three years...
